Field Marketing Specialist
Community outreach and interpreter recruiting — an in-person, field-based role. You must live in or within close proximity of Frederick, MD.
$18–22/hour + commission · 15–20 hrs/week
Location requirement: this role is done in person across the Frederick region — you must be based in or within close proximity of Frederick, MD.
Most of your time will be spent out in the community. You will visit medical clinics, law firms, school districts, municipal offices, and non-profits to introduce our services, drop off flyers and service menus, and build relationships with the people who make vendor decisions. You will also attend chamber of commerce events, business expos, and community gatherings on our behalf.
The rest of the job is done from home or wherever you like to work: researching which organizations to contact, finding the right person to talk to, keeping notes on your visits, and following up by phone or email. You plan your own routes and manage your own schedule. A second part of the role is interpreter recruiting — helping us connect with qualified spoken-language and ASL interpreters through local associations, community college programs, Deaf community events, and direct outreach.
This is a good fit for someone friendly and self-motivated who enjoys meeting new people and being out and about rather than sitting at a desk all day. You do not need a sales background — we will train you on our services and go with you on your first visits so you can get comfortable.
Responsibilities
- Visit local businesses and organizations to introduce our interpreting and translation services
- Distribute flyers, service menus, and marketing materials at front desks and community hubs
- Represent the agency at networking events, expos, and community gatherings
- Research potential clients and identify decision makers before visits
- Help recruit spoken-language and ASL interpreters through local outreach
- Keep simple records of visits, contacts, and follow-ups
Qualifications
- Comfortable introducing yourself to new people, including unscheduled visits
- Organized and able to plan your week independently
- Basic comfort with email, spreadsheets, and online research
- Reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and current auto insurance
- A plus but not required: outreach, sales, or recruiting experience; knowledge of ASL or the Deaf community; a second language
Pay and schedule
$18.00–$22.00 per hour based on experience, plus commission on new client accounts you bring in and a bonus for each interpreter you recruit who completes a first assignment with us. A travel stipend is provided, and we cover all materials, business cards, and event fees. This is a part-time position, 15–20 hours per week to start, with flexibility on which days and hours you work, and room for the role to grow. Part-time employees at this hours level are not eligible for our health, dental, or vision plans. We are a small, close team and the owner is Deaf, so clear written communication is part of how we work every day. If you would like to learn some ASL, we are happy to teach you.
