Part-Time Interpreter Scheduler — Remote

FIA Interpreting is an SBE/DBE/MBE certified, Deaf-owned interpreting agency specializing in on-site interpreting, video remote interpreting (VRI), virtual interpreting, and document translation. We are looking for a part-time Interpreter Scheduler to join our remote operations team. This is a key role responsible for coordinating and optimizing the scheduling of interpreting services to ensure seamless communication access for Deaf and hard of hearing individuals. You will work alongside our existing scheduling team to match interpreters with clients, manage assignments, and keep everything running smoothly.

What you will do

  • Develop and manage schedules for interpreting assignments, matching interpreters with clients based on qualifications, expertise, and availability
  • Communicate with clients to understand their language needs, preferences, and scheduling requirements
  • Maintain clear and timely communication with interpreters regarding assignments, expectations, and schedule changes
  • Identify and resolve scheduling conflicts to ensure interpreters are allocated optimally
  • Handle last-minute changes, cancellations, and emergencies to ensure continuity of service
  • Use our scheduling platform to manage assignments, monitor interpreter availability, and track job status
  • Collaborate with the team on quality assurance and interpreter performance feedback
  • Recognize and respect cultural nuances to ensure appropriate interpreter-client matches

What we are looking for

  • At least 2 years of customer service or scheduling experience
  • Familiarity with ASL and/or the interpreting industry is required
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong written communication skills — this role is heavily email and text-based
  • Problem-solving ability to manage unexpected changes under pressure
  • Comfortable with technology and learning new scheduling software
  • ASL proficiency is strongly preferred

Pay and schedule

$18.00–$20.00 per hour. Part-time, 22–25 hours per week: Monday, Tuesday, and Friday, 12:00 PM–7:30 PM EST, with occasional on-call availability on weekends. Fully remote — work from home.
